In my lifetime I have had two important interviews that thank to God and my skills (lol) I have succeed in. Even though two seems like a little number I have learned sooooooooooo muchhhhhhhhhhhhhhh. For this post I want to share some of my tips on how to properly dress in an interview. ok let's get to the BASICS
THE OUTFIT: I am sorry but whenever fashionistas say that you can dress more chill or more colorful for an interview, I believe that is a big NO NO unless is for a very creative job. You have to make a clean, classic and strong impression with your outfit. You need this following pieces in your wardrobe:
BLACK BLAZER: A tailored one, look for one that is comfortable but that fits you well, not to tight not to baggy. click
BLACK PANTS OR PENCIL SKIRT: the skirt needs to be just below the knee. click
LOW HEEL SHOES: ahhh this one is the hard one. we all LOVE high heels but unless you were them with pants that hides most of the heels DO NOT wear very high ones if you wear a skirt because you will look like you are going to the club. BIG tip: take flats in your purse just in case. click
SHIRT: with the shirt you can provide color to the outfit so that is not to boring or maybe a classic print.
color or print
JEWERLY: small earings like studs will work perfetly, also wear a watch please and if you want some bracelets wear something delicate nothing too big or blingy.
MAKEUP: simple and natural, not pale use some color like neutrals and light pinks etc... not hot pink, not glitter....
HAIR: clean it and pull it back, a sleek ponytail or a bun works :)
OK now you are ready for your interview!!
Wait I have some last tips that do not deal with clothes but are crucial to make a good impression:
*BE ON TIME: five to ten minutes early, not more not less.
*BE PREPARED: practice before going in, breath, know the company at least learn some facts.
*THE HANDSHAKE: look at your employer in the eyes when you talk and provide a firm handshake.
*RELAX: if it's meant to be is meant to be, God knows what's best for you. Show your skills, smile, concentrate, think before answering the questions and be smart. YOU GOT THIS
GOOD LUCK
I hope this helps, smile and love one another
xoxo
